Running a building or a business means a lot of people depend on you holding the keys together. A new tenant needs access on Monday. A cleaner left without returning theirs. The committee wants the front entrance brought up to scratch. It is rarely an emergency, but it always matters, and it always lands on your desk. I sort that out so it stops being your problem.

I am Legacy Locksmith, based in Neutral Bay and working right across the Lower North Shore: Mosman, Cremorne, Cammeray, North Sydney, Kirribilli, Crows Nest, Wollstonecraft, Waverton, Milsons Point, Lane Cove and Chatswood. I do master key systems, restricted key systems, rekeying, lock changes and access control for the strata committees, building managers, office tenants and retailers in this neighbourhood. A lot of my commercial work comes from the same building managers and apartment receptionists who already call me for resident lockouts. They keep calling because I turn up, I explain things in plain English, and the keys work.

I hold a NSW Master Security Licence (000111072) and I am rated 5.0 across more than 200 Google reviews. That matters more for commercial work than people expect: when you put one person in charge of who can get into a building, you want them licensed, accountable and known in the area, not a number routed through a city-wide call centre. I am happy to be that person, and to be the one you ring directly when something needs doing.

What's included

  • Master key systems designed for your building or office, so one master opens everything while individual keys open only what each person should reach, with a clean key hierarchy mapped to how the building actually works
  • Restricted key systems where keys can only be cut by an authorised locksmith against your records, which stops tenants and ex-staff quietly copying keys at the corner shop
  • Access control and keyless entry, from electronic fobs and keypads to smart locks on common doors, lobbies, storage cages and staff areas, with fobs added or cancelled as people come and go
  • Rekeying and lock changes after tenant turnover, lost keys, staff departures or a break-in, so the building is secure again without replacing every lock
  • Common-property work for strata: entry doors, mailrooms, basement and car park access, bin and storage rooms, riser cupboards and roof access, handled to suit the committee and the by-laws
  • Office and retail fit-outs and upgrades: door hardware, deadlocks, restricted cylinders, back-of-house and after-hours access, plus making good when a lease ends
  • Key registers and ongoing account work, so there is one tidy record of who holds what, and one number to call when it changes
  • 24/7 emergency response for commercial and strata clients when a lock fails, a door will not secure, or someone is locked out of the building after hours

How it works

1

Tell me about the building

Call me on 0430 604 036 or email and walk me through it: how many doors, how many keys, who needs access to what, and what is frustrating you now. For strata I am happy to talk to the committee or managing agent directly. There is no charge for this conversation.

2

I come and look

I visit the site, check the existing locks and hardware, and map out who should reach where. Then I put a clear plan and quote in front of you in writing, in plain English, so you and the committee or owners know exactly what is proposed and what it costs before anything is ordered.

3

I do the work

I install the master or restricted system, change or rekey the locks, and set up the fobs or keypads. I work around your tenants, trading hours and residents, including after hours where that causes the least disruption, and I keep doors secure throughout.

4

You get the records, and me on call

I hand over a tidy key register and authorisation list so you know who holds what, and I am one phone call away whenever it changes. Most building managers keep my number on file and simply ring me as new keys, tenants or staff come and go.

Commercial and strata jobs vary too much to put a single price on a web page, and I would rather quote honestly than guess. A handful of rekeyed locks is a small job; a full restricted master key system across a whole building is a larger one. After I have seen the site I give you a clear written quote, itemised so you and the committee or owners can see exactly what each part costs. Restricted and master key systems carry a setup cost up front and then a low per-key cost afterwards, which usually works out cheaper than repeatedly rekeying locks every time a key goes missing. No call-out fee to come and assess the work, and no surprises after.
Questions

Commercial & Strata — FAQs

What is the difference between a master key system and a restricted key system?

They solve different problems and often work together. A master key system is about access: one master key opens everything, while each person's key opens only the doors they should reach. A restricted key system is about control: the keys can only be cut by an authorised locksmith against your records, so nobody can quietly copy them at a hardware shop. Most buildings I set up are both restricted and master keyed, so you control who has access and who can make more keys. I will recommend what suits your building once I have seen it.

Can you work with our strata committee or managing agent?

Yes, that is a large part of what I do on the North Shore. I am comfortable presenting a plan and written quote to a committee, dealing with a managing agent, and scheduling work around residents and by-laws. A lot of my strata work comes from building managers and apartment receptionists who already refer resident lockouts to me. Once a building is set up, most just keep my number and call me directly as keys and access need to change.

A staff member or tenant left and still has keys. What do we do?

Ring me. If you are on a restricted system, no one can copy those keys anyway, but if you want certainty I can rekey the affected locks so the old keys no longer work, or cancel a fob or keypad code on an access-control setup. For a single departing tenant or employee that is usually a quick, low-cost job rather than a full lock replacement.

Do you offer keyless entry and access control for offices and common areas?

Yes. I install electronic fobs, keypads and smart locks on lobbies, staff areas, storage cages, car parks and common doors, and I can mix electronic access on shared doors with traditional restricted keys elsewhere. I will talk you through the trade-offs honestly rather than pushing the most expensive option, and set it up so you can add or cancel access yourself as people come and go.

Are you licensed, and does it matter for commercial work?

I hold a NSW Master Security Licence, number 000111072, and I am rated 5.0 across more than 200 Google reviews. For commercial and strata work it matters a great deal: you are trusting one person with who can enter a whole building, so you want them licensed, accountable and known in the neighbourhood, not a faceless operator. I am a real local based in Neutral Bay, and I stand behind the work.
